Did you know, Colonoscopy Clinic began over 35 years ago, as GastroIntestinal Endoscopy. GIE started at the Wesley Hospital, Brisbane in 1985. It was one of the first open-access endoscopy and colonoscopy services in Australia.
It was understood by those visionary gastroenterologists that “patients with a clear indication should be provided ready access to gastrointestinal endoscopy, without first requiring formal office consultation”.
The founding of GIE saved patients time and money, and provided a rapid path to care, enabling GPs to take better care of their patients.
Colonoscopy Clinic is a change in name to reflect a change in community needs. Today, we continue to build on GIE’s wonderful foundation, and our commitment to patients, referrers and the Brisbane community remains as strong as ever.
